What is the defect?
The primary fixed sheave nut may loosen during riding due to inadequate axial tightening torque. If the nut loosens off, the primary sheave may dislodge and contact the crank case cover.
What are the hazards?
The primary sheave may become jammed by the crank case cover resulting in engine stalling during operation and the inability to restart the engine. This condition could cause loss of control of the scooter resulting in an accident and injury to rider or other road users.
What should customers do?
The owner must contact the nearest Yamaha dealer to have the defective parts replaced with new counter measure parts free of charge as soon as possible.
For further information please contact Yamaha on 09 265 6500 or visit the Find a Dealer page for your nearest dealership.
