What is the defect?
The strength of the XP530A main stand may be compromised due to substandard welding at the cross tube.
What are the hazards?
Repeated operations of the main stand may cause cracking at the weld areas and possible breakage. If the stand was to break and the bike was to fall over, it could cause serious injury to the rider or bystanders.
What should customers do?
To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign, whereby affected XP530A models must have the main stand replaced with one that has been strengthened by increasing the tube thickness and modifying the welding process.
You should contact your local Yamaha Dealer to set up an appointment to have your model remedied free of charge.
For further information please contact Yamaha on 09 265 6500 or visit the Find a Dealer page for your nearest dealership.
See www.recalls.govt.nz for New Zealand product recall information.
