What is the defect?
The lower handlebar holder may have been manufactured with improper paint application. Additionally, thread locking agent may not have been adequately applied to the stud bolt thread in the lower handlebar holder. Strong external impact may abrade the paint film causing axial force on the stud bolt.
What are the hazards?
With engine vibration, the stud may loosen and fall off resulting in loss of control.
What should customers do?
To correct this defect, Yamaha is initiating a replacement of the handlebar clamp assembly.
You should contact your local Yamaha Dealer to set up an appointment to have your model remedied free of charge.
